My husband and I had been to the property we ended up buying many times. At that time it was a pottery gallery and café and we often wandered around the stunning gardens in awe, never in a million years thinking we would one day own it!

Some years later this became a reality when the property came up for sale. Sadly the once beautifully maintained gardens, 100 year old cottage and gallery had long lost its sparkle as it had been left vacant for almost 5 years.

Everyone that knew us thought we had rocks in our heads buying the property, which we have renamed "Bloomfield Cottage" but we could still see its beauty...

Fast forward 3.5 years and we have two completely renovated buildings thanks to the wonderful efforts of Norton Homes. Jeff Wouters and his team of young enthusiastic tradesmen were a pleasure to deal with. Their attention to detail ensured that the end result is exactly as we had envisaged. 

The commercial building that we call "The Gallery" was rustic and fitted the brief as a pottery gallery very well.  However we wanted to keep the key elements of the wood and glass structure that we loved so much but give it a modern twist as this was going to be our home.

With two dwellings needing equal attention we commenced with renovating "The Cottage", which we learnt had started life in 1906 as "Valencia",  on an orange orchard in Grange Ave Seven Hills.  In the early 1980's the cottage was moved to where it is now on our property in Bilpin and over the years it was updated and extended.  It had good bones and we wanted to keep the original foot print and simply restore it back to its natural beauty with the view to it becoming a B & B on completion. 

Whilst renting for 6 months Jeff's team went about completely transforming our cottage from new plumbing, new wiring, new decks, new fireplaces, kitchen, laundry, painting inside and out.  The end result is a cottage that is completely new but has maintained all of its old world charm.  We couldn't be happier with the end result.  Bloomfield Cottage once again sparkles.

During the cottage renovation we worked on the plans for transforming "The Gallery".  Jeff referred me to Graham and Rebecca from Graham Zerk Designs who assisted with all the requirements for working with council regarding the necessary approvals and drawings.  As this stage took much longer than we had expected with council, we were able to enjoy our cottage for longer and work in the gardens.  Finally with approvals granted we commenced on our main residence "The Gallery".  

Once we pulled off the inside walls that were covered in rustic tin, it was evident that we were about to embark on a journey into the unknown. Every wall was built using tree trunks and very green timbers therefore we had to completely rebuild the timber frame inside to ensure we achieved straight lines for the gyprock walls.  The mezzanine was also removed and rebuilt to comply to engineering standards for its new life as a home.  You could say we rebuilt it from the inside out!  The challenges for the carpenters was enormous as they had to hand make all of the window and door frames around existing timbers.  Every aspect of this job was tailored to retro fit what was already in place.  The end result is a brand new home that we absolutely love and a completely one off.

Thanks must also go to the original owners and designers of the property, we are simply the current custodians of this beautiful property.

We want to thank you for building our dream home. Upon finalising the plans for our home we were at a loss as to which way to go in regards to finding a suitable builder.

A friend of ours had insisted we go and have a look at a home you had built in the area. We went with low expectations as we had been disappointed in the past. Upon entering the home we knew that we had met a builder who had a great attention to detail and took pride in his work.

Once signing the building contract with you building works commenced straight away. We met the rest of the team at Norton Homes namely Luke, Michael and Justin who were polite and respectful at all times.

During construction you were always there to help with any decisions that had to be made and really appreciated the fact that I could get a hold of you at any time.

We also really appreciate the fact that when we were not happy with the size of our living room as specified in the plans that we had for Jeff to build to, you spent countless hours trying to extend the room without ruining the effect of our roof lines. Even though there was extra money involved as it was a variation to the contract you were very fair in relation to your costings.

At the time of us building we were living in a 3 bedroom unit with 3 children under the age of 4 and the whole team at Norton Homes worked so hard to get us in before Christmas so we could spend Christmas in our brand new home.

Throughout our dealings with you we found you to be a very honest and fair person. We felt like a friend was building our home which made the experience so much more exciting and rewarding rather than stressful and wondering whether the home will be completed properly.

Again thank you so much for all your hard work it certainly did not go unnoticed. We certainly will be recommending you to family and friends in the future.

Our experience of building our first Custom Built Home a number of years ago was not only exciting, but became a pleasure working alongside Jeff and his Team.

We provided Jeff with the design that we’d already had done and he was able to build to our exact needs, all the while being very flexible and allowing us to contribute to the construction in areas that we had agreed upon.

Jeff kept us up to date with the Building Schedule and always returned our calls promptly, taking the time to listen to our questions.

Jeff’s team of employees and contractors were always polite and accommodating  to our needs along the way, nothing was a hassle.

Whenever we visited the home during construction, we were always greeted by a neat and tidy, secure site and knew that our home was in safe hands.

We were happy that everything priced in the contract was done, and any changes that we made along the way were documented and priced properly.

Our style of home demanded attention to detail, and this was surely met by Jeff’s Team.

We had not lived in the district previously, and during the construction period and after completion, Jeff made us feel welcome in our new community.

We enjoyed a great relationship during the building process and found a friendship that continues today.

We hear lots of people say that they would “never build again”, however we would have no hesitation “building again” with Jeff and his team.
